Depression & Anxiety Counselling

Depression and anxiety have reached pandemic proportions. Their prevalence in daily life is explained through such social factors as isolation, racism, misogyny, queer- and transphobia, classism, and economic precarity. Even for those in positions of relative privilege, the competitiveness of today’s world leads to constant comparisons and feelings of nonrecognition and inadequacy. The result is often hopelessness, lack of motivation, self-doubt, apathy, and a sense of numbness. More intensely, depression and anxiety can lead to substance (mis)use and thoughts of suicide. Counselling allows us to name and frame the different factors in our lives so that we don’t turn to self-blame. This allows us to find better relationships with ourselves and with those who can see us in a more affirming light.

Depression & Anxiety Counselling can help with concerns such as:

  • I used to believe in myself, but lately I feel worthless. I am losing hope that I’ll manage to have the life that I want.

  • I have always struggled to make friends and feel like I belong. I’m scared that I’ll be alone forever.

  • I hate getting on the bus or even going outside. I feel like everyone is looking at me.

  • I am worn out by the grind of daily life. I even struggle to get out of bed.

  • I have panic attacks every time I’m in a new social situation.
