Grief Counselling

Death and other forms of loss can bring a complex mixture of emotions: anger, heartbreak, numbness, relief, despair, and loneliness are just a few. Sometimes we face a loss of meaning and start questioning aspects of our existence that we previously thought little about. In today’s precarious world, we can also find ourselves grieving the loss of a healthy planet and of the rights of marginalized communities, such as Indigenous, queer, trans, BIPOC folks, and women to name a few. Counselling lets us unravel these emotions, feel them in a safe space, move from loneliness to solidarity, and create meaning from loss that makes room for our humanity.

Grief Counselling can help with concerns such as:

  • I quickly lost my spouse to cancer. She was young, and it was so unexpected. I’m heartbroken, but I also feel anger towards her.

  • The anti-trans movement is making me scared for my trans kid. How do I keep them safe in this world?

  • My abusive parent recently died. People expect me to be sad, but I am mostly relieved.

  • I was laid off from the job I had for nearly 20 years. I am lost.

  • My grief over the degradation of the environment is overwhelming. My career goals feel meaningless as I watch it unfold. It’s hard to stay motivated, but I also know I need to take care of my home and family.
